Forehead Lift Surgery

Forehead Lift Surgery is an important constituent of Cosmetic Surgery. As the name suggests, Cosmetic Surgery is a form of surgery in which physical abnormalities are corrected. It is also done to improve the normal feature and thus, improve the appearance of a person.

Forehead Lift Surgery is an ideal treatment for ageing, tension and pollution related effects. This results in our face developing wrinkles and folds and distorts the person's face thus, affecting the entire personality. This method provides a perfect solution to this problem.

Procedure
The Forehead Lift Surgery is mainly done to patients who fall under the age group of 40 to 60. The surgery can be done either in the traditional method or by using an endoscope. By this process, the patient not only looks younger but also, a lot more refreshed and energetic. This in turn leads to boosting up his confidence levels.

Length
Forehead Lift Surgery takes around 1 to 2 hours to complete.

Risks
There are certain risks involved in cosmetic surgeries. These include the damage of the facial nerves, the muscles get weakened, the patient becomes prone to infection and developing scars are some of the risks involved in Forehead Lift Surgery.

Side Effects
The patient retains swelling and numbness for a few days after the surgery is performed. If the surgery is performed in the traditional method, then the patient develops itching and temporary hair loss. Therefore, it is advised that you should consult your surgeon in order to avoid any post operational complications.

Forehead Lift Surgery also includes Coronal Forehead lift, Endoscopic forehead lift and Subcutaneous forehead lift.

Coronal Forehead Lift
In Coronal Forehead lift, an incision is made on the on the upper part of the head and it ranges from one ear to the other. The incision enables the surgeon to alter any muscles if he thinks it suitable to do so. The surgeon may also remove a portion of your scalp (usually 1 to 2 cm).

One of the advantages of this technique is that it is a one time process and you don't require doing it again. However, one of the major disadvantages is that your hairline will increase in height. It is a real problem for those who have a high hairline.

Endoscopic forehead Lift
In this process, 4 to 6 incisions are made at the back of your hairline. These incisions are usually 1 inch deep. The surgeon inserts an endoscope through these incisions. The endoscope has a tiny camera fitted to its end and it enables him to get a proper view of your head.

The surgeon can lift your forehead but, he cannot remove the part of the scalp that is extra. However, he can shift it either backward or upward on the skull. He will then fix the scalp with small screws.

Another disadvantage of this method is that there is often a relapse of the scalp. Therefore, the traditional method is usually preferred over an Endoscopic lift.

Subcutaneous forehead Lift
Out of the 3 methods, this is the least performed one. The surgeon will make an incision on the frontal part of your forehead, the point where the hairline starts. In this method, the extra skin or scalp is removed. Also, the hairline remains unchanged as the surgery is done on the front portion of the hairline. This is the reason why this method is better than the other two methods.

The patient does not feel any numbness on the operated portion of the scalp. However, one disadvantage is that the surgery will leave a scar on the forehead.
