Introduction
Camp Forktail Creek Resort, named after the forktail birds that visit these dense deciduous forests each year is located in the village of Bhakrakot on the north eastern border of the Corbett Tiger reserve. The use of electricity is not encouraged because this is a forest camp.
Accommodation
There are a total of 12 tents at the Camp Forktail Creek Resort. All of them stand on raised wooden platforms. A semi-tiled bathroom with supply of cold water is attached to each tent. In the mornings hot water is supplied in buckets but only on request. The most interesting part about these tents is that a balcony is attached to each of them. You can sit there watching the beautiful feathered creatures and be one with nature or simply close your eyes and listen to the sweet humming of birds.
Dining
Thatch is the lounge come dining area of the Camp Forktail Creek Resort. It is built of wood and grass that is locally available. The food served is very tasty but it is the ambience that is sure to remain etched in your memory. Its rustic beauty is all the more enhanced at night when it is lit with oil lanterns.
A specific area is there to hold barbeques.
Other facilities
Tours to the Ramganga River are arranged for fishing and angling. The place is an ornithologist’s paradise. While away the time viewing a wide variety of birds. The management also organizes elephant safaris and hiking to the nearby Corbett National Park.
