While on a trip to any parts of Kerala or on a specific tour to Kumarakom, one should taste the elegance and fun of staying in a houseboat. The houseboats are specially operated by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation. Tourists can stay in the houseboat in as much comfort and pleasure as living in a resort or a star classified hotel.

An ordinary tourist house boat operated by KTDC is about 67 to 95 feet in length and 13 feet width in the middle. The houseboats are made up of bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc. "Anjili" is the main wood that is used in the making of a houseboat.

The accommodation of the Houseboat: KTDC - Kumarakom varies from a fully furnished single bedroom to five bedrooms. The rooms are fully furnished and have an attached sundeck, private balcony, kitchen and bathroom. Houseboats often have a separate rest room. The rooms in the houseboat: KTDC are provided with,
