Located in the Hassan district of Karnataka, Belur was the erstwhile capital of the Hoysala Empire. It is a popular tourist destination in Karnataka.

One of the most well known monuments of Belur is the Chennakeshava Temple. It showcases Hoysalan architecture. Chennakeshava Temple was built by King Vishnuvardhana to commemorate his victory over the Cholas in the year 1117.
