Meena Bazaar - Fast Facts

Introduction

Meena Bazaar, previously called 'Bazaar-i-Musaqqaf', can be entered through the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort. Shah Jahan was inspired by the arcade by visiting one in Peshawar in 1646.

Meena Bazaar hundreds of years ago supplied goods to the royal household. The specialities of the market were quilts, exclusive carpets, pashmina shawls, pardahs, zari and brocade work, ornaments made of precious stones and spices.

Meena Bazaar is located on the eastern end of the Jama Masjid near Red Fort.

Timing

It is advisable to visit the Meena Bazaar between 11.30 am and 6 pm.

No admission fee is required to enter Meena Bazaar.
