Introduction to Saheliyon Ki Bari

The Saheliyon Ki Bari or the Garden of the Maids was designed and built under the direction of Maharana Sangram Singh II. Legend says, it was specially built for the 48 maids who had accompanied the Maharana�s wife as dowry for his wedding. The Saheliyon Ki Bari, that was intended as a pleasure park became the centre for fun and frolic for the ladies.

There is a museum within the premises of the Saheliyon Ki Bari which exhibits a large variety of objects that were once a part of regular sue at the royal households. There are stuffed animals such as Cobras and other interesting stuff inside the museum.

Description of Saheliyon Ki Bari

The main reservoir at the Saheliyon Ki Bari is edged by four royal cenotaphs made of black marbles, with beautifully sculpted birds on the roofs spurting water from their beaks. Maharana Bhopal Singhji had also created a pavilion of �rain fountains� within the Saheliyon Ki Bari, to create the illusionary effect of rain dancing. The marble pathways are flanked by real life size lions and elephants.
