Introduction: The cremation spot of the Father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi lies between the main Ring Road or the Mahatma Gandhi Road and the banks of the holy River Yamuna, just south-east of Red Fort. The cremation spot, formed as a memorial of Gandhiji is known as Rajghat. Mahatma Gandhi was cremated at this ghat on 31st January in 1948, after his assassination. The cremation site and memorial of the great leader is a simple square stone platform made with black marbles. The last words of Mahatma Gandhi - "Hey Ram" are inscribed on the platform of the memorial and are surrounded by an eternal fire.

Vijay Ghat: It is the cremation ground of India's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri on the left bank of river Yamuna. He was born 1901 and was a great freedom fighter and statesman. He was awarded the title 'Shastri' as his bachelor's degree. He died of a heart attack in 1966.

Vir Bhumi: It is the memorial of India's sixth and youngest Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi. The first son of Indira and Feroze Gandhi, Rajiv dreamt a lot for the well being of the country. In May 1991, Rajiv was assassinated by a LTTE suicide bomber at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. He was awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously.

Shakti Sthal: It is the cremation site and memorial of the first and only lady Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. She was the third Prime minister of India but during the third term of her post, she was killed by her own bodyguards in 1984. Her memorial was named 'Shakti Sthal' which meant 'the place of strength and power'.

Shanti Van: It is the cremation spot and memorial of the great leader and first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru. Born in Allahabad in 1889, he was popularly known as 'Chacha Nehru' by children. He served as a Prime Minister for the longest span of 15 years. His birthday, 14th November is celebrated as 'Children's Day' every year. This great personality died in 1964.

National Gandhi Museum: The Gandhi National Museum or, Rashtriya Gandhi Sangrahalaya, is situated just opposite to Rajghat. The two storey museum, inaugurated in 1961, has a rich collection of photographs, memorabilia, relics, books, journal, documents, audio-visuals, all related to Mahatma Gandhi.

Zinat-ul-Masjid: The masjid is located opposite Shakti Sthal and is also known as 'Ghata Masjid'. It was built in the year 1707 by Emperor Aurangzeb's daughter, Zinat-ul-Nissa Begum. This mosque is said to be a smaller replication of the marvelous Jama Masjid.

Feroz Shah Kotla: Near the Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Stadium, Feroz Shah Kotla was the imposing citadel of Ferozabad, the fifth city of Delhi. The city of Ferozabad with its citadel was built in 1354. The palace was finally abandoned in the year 1490.

Khuni Darwaza: Khuni Darwaza or the Bloody gate was built in the 16th Century by Emperor Sher Shah Suri, as one of the gates of his city Shergarh. The majestic gate got its current name due to the bloodshed during the war of 1857.
