Introduction
Sariska National Park is stretched over a vast area of 400 square kilometers and is crammed with wild feral beasts that inspire awe and respect y their stature and ferocity. The wild creatures epitomize loyalty; in this mundane existence where there is a scarcity of this element & “fall upon the thorns of life and bleed”, we automatically admire and respect these natural beings.
They are devoid of the duality that is encountered in the mundane existence. So, the wild cats, langoors, wild boar, hare, civet and four horned antelope, nilgai, pine and porcupine are abundant here. The flora consists of the rocks, grasses and dry deciduous trees. Birds like pea, fowl, quail, sand grouse, partridge, golden backed woodpecker and crested serpent eagle. Other attractions in this region are Kankwari Fort, the ancient historical fort where Aurangzeb is said to have captivated his brother Dara Singh in captivity.
The Shiva Temple is also renowned as the Neelkanth Temple, and is regarded as a significant pious site for the Hindus. The age of the old temple dates back to the 6th century AD and the ruinous vestige reminds us of India’s prehistoric era. Sariska Palace was reserved for the ancient rulers of Alwar that acted as recoil to the Maharajas during their hunting trips in the knees of the Aravalli Hills, now called the Sariska National Park.
