St. Stephen's Church

Introduction

Located on the Church Mission Road of Delhi, St. Stephens' Church was built in 1862. It is located in the heart of the city and is easily accessible. The Romanesque church is rectangular in shape and reflects archetypal gothic style of architecture. The elaborate and ornate designs of walls and the high ceiling are some of the attractions of St. Stephen's Church.

It is believed that St. Stephen's Church as well as St Stephen's College and Hospital are red bricked because the patron saint, St Stephen being a martyr was stoned to death. In memory of his sacrifice and bloodshed, the buildings are colored in red.
