Ahinsa Sthal

Introduction to Ahinsa Sthal

The Ahinsa Sthal is the area on the Mehrauili Road, on top of a small hill, a few kilometers from the Connaught Place. As the Name suggest, this place is supposed to be a non violent and peace loving area. This is because, there is a 14 feet large statue of Lord Mahavira. This Ahinsa Sthal is a sacred place for the Jains. The statue of Mahavira was brought during the mid 2980's. The area around the place is transformed into beautiful garden and park. The Ahinsa Sthal also bears some historical significance because the British official Thomas Metcalfe constructed a small lighthouse in the 19th century.
