A temple town in the Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati is located on the foothills of Tirumala. The name Tirupati means the Lord of Lakshmi. The history of Tirupati dates back to the 12th century.

Tour to Tirupati Tirumala Hill on which the town is located is about 3200 feet above sea level. The hill comprises seven smaller hills for which it is named Seshachala. The seven hills are called Seshadri, Neeladri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrishabhadri, Narayanadri and Venkatadri.
